Kenzi’s Cake Smash | First Birthday | Syracuse Children’s Photographer

IMG_7511

Do you remember this beautiful face from last year? Kenzi was just a tiny newborn last April when I photographed some of her first days and a baby bump weeks before her newborn session. She is just as beautiful as her older sis, Molly, and her momma!IMG_7392

It was so much fun capturing her first cake smash in the family’s dining room! The tutus, headbands, and flags were beautifully designed by Molly & Kenzi’s talented momma.2013 Sorber, Kenzi 1 year (web-size)-001

Finally, a Glimpse of the Outdoors

Following last year’s mild weather, the long drawn-out months of snow and cold felt twice as long. Finally  it’s warmed up enough to melt the snow from the path. This past weekend, I enjoyed a beautiful walk waddle with my husband taking in the fresh air and sunshine! I am looking forward to the many walks we’ll fit in over the next 6 weeks just the two of us before little guy arrives and joins us in the stroller.

Old Railroad Bridges: Love Letter to Syracuse

A few years ago, artists painted messages on old railroad bridges on the west side in bright stop-you-in-your-tracks colors. Check out this great article about it. I’ve been wanting to photograph these bridges for a long time, and last week on my street photography adventure, I finally did it! Here are photos from railroad bridges on West Street and Fayette. Fortunately, I was able to get these during  a slow part of the day. Late afternoon and early evening, these streets are lit red with brake lights!

So thankful I had the wide-angle lens to capture this one. Just imagine this 6 months pregnant photographer standing in the middle of the road to capture the entire bridge. Good thing Christopher was there to stop traffic if I had needed it!Image

Streets of Graffiti & Shooting Through Fences | Syracuse, NY

Last week, a bizarre rise in temperature melted away snow drifts, and broke records with reports of 65 degree weather in upstate NY. The next day, temperatures began their usual descent and the wind blew bitterly, but it didn’t stop my cousin Christopher and I from exploring city streets tucked away on the west side of Syracuse. I had rented a 10-22mm lens and was pleasantly surprised with the results. Today’s post includes many shots of the graffiti and shots from looking through fences.  I really liked the perspective of shooting through fences, and the wide angle lens definitely helped capture the depth of the graffiti. While on our adventure, we ran into an artist, Jian, from 601 Tully who very willingly posed for me in one of the most colorful alleyways I’ve ever seen. Even Christopher struck a pose there!

It really inspired me to get out more and shoot in this cold weather. So many treasures are waiting to be discovered!
